I've originally typed this post onto my personal Facebook account, but realised that it was wayyy too lengthy for FB. :/ Hence, I've decided to type this (again) onto our blog instead. ;)
Here's what I would like to tell my 2 kids about Life:
Life is a funny thing.
You're not always going to feel happy, satisfied or even safe. There are going to be moments when you feel sad, disappointed, lonely, hurt, insecure, and just want to curl up under the blankets and be nonexistent. You'll probably mess a few things in your life, let someone down, say the wrong thing to someone you love dearly, make the wrong choice, and that's okay. That's what we all do, we all mess up once in a while. We're imperfect like that.
Life doesn't come with a warning sign, a safety precaution, a seat belt, a helmet, or even a guarantee that everything will be fine. Life also isn't something that you can just re-do or re-start. It's something you live, breathe and use until you've squeeze every single thing out of it.
What I really want to say is this: Go have some fun, get out, party, laugh yourself silly, dream, watch the sunrise/sunset, write poetry or paint, go for that girl you like, try out for that team you've always admired, and chase your dreams. Don't ever stop chasing your dreams. Yes, you may "fail" or end up worse than before. But that's life. If you don't try, if you don't do the things that you've always wanted to do, then really, what is there to live for? No anecdote ever started with "I should have..." and bad decisions make for good stories, right? ;)
When your father and I are old, tired and wrinkly (haha!), we want to hear how both of you, our precious boys, have lived life to its fullest and never looked back. The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to its utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience. So live your life to its fullest, because it only happens once. :)
